i love bondi junction

made a late trip to bondi junction. its like being back in singapore, leaving the house in the evening to shop ard. well, most shops at bondi junction close at 7pm, an hour or two later than those at pitt street. after a short shop ard at myer stocktake sale (they actually open till 10 pm during the sale period) and coles (they obviously open till 12 midnight everyday), we head out for japanese food. very aesthetically pleasing and gastronomically appetizing sushi we had. another addition to the makan list.

canned bean sprouts.... thats new (to me).

going for $34.95 at myer. nice?

S.A.O. (stands for salmon avocado and onion) roll.
very unusual creation but nice (if only u like onions).

dragon roll. i love tis one. grilled eel, sesame, cucumber and CRRRREAM CHEEEEESE (in the center).

freshly cooked deep fried tofu. its soupy, unlike sakae's.

hair salon next to sushi train. see the empty cash register? they deliberately leave it near the door to ward off break-in.

store wars...

...is the new, up & coming phenomenon. it is so much better than star wars.

first, i didnt feel restless right from the start of the movie.
second, i didnt need to go to the washroom, so as to kill time.
third, i didnt have to count down to the end of the movie.

store wars is fun, quirky, entertaining, educational and has an organic message to put across. it has no bad english and is suitable for both the young and the old. so what r u waiting for? visit store wars.

someone whipped out a banana from her bag possibly to ease her constipation and then decided to leave the skin there for idiots like me to take a pic of and post it on her blog.

i found myself at eastgardens again. i was there jus 2 days ago. well, today, i was on a mission. i went for an informal interview at kmart for a nightfiller position. as the name suggests, i'll work at night, after store hours. basically, what i do is unload and organize pellets of merchandise onto the sales floor then arrange them onto the shelves. at least something to do to tide me over before the actual job comes. i'm feeling guilty as i speak cos i havent been looking for jobs actively. i've notified my agents of my preference for clinical research (clinical trials to be specific) openings but of late, i'm not so sure anymore. i dont know what i want. how to follow-up with a call to my agent when i dont know what i want. make sense? besides, i'm bothered by how close-minded one of my agents is abt temporary visa. dont get me wrong, she's nice to me still. the idea i get from talking to her is that she prefers matching jobs to PRs. i reckon PRs offer more security and reliability unlike me who will be kicked out of australia anytime should my PR application fails. sigh. so far, the agents i deal with seem to only know and accept PR but not the rest of the visa types while my classmates (the ang mohs) havent even heard of PR. OMG. for now, while i think of a way to educate them abt my visa type (that is, i can stay up to 2 years), i've to begin thinking abt what i want.

these are exactly the times i'd hesitate abt speaking my inner thoughts and what's bothering me, be it face to face with someone or over my blog. i'm jus not used to being so open abt my feelings. a friend, from primary sch, used to tell my ma (when ma asked her what was bothering me. yep, my ma has to ask my friend what was wrong with her own daughter) that i'm fond of bottling up and not voicing out my problems. perhaps i'm afraid of being seen as being weak or that i'm a loser. or possibly, thats jus me, settling my problems the quiet way. many friends think i'm chatty and possibly approachable, thus often seek a confidante in me. they've no idea i used that chattiness to camouflage myself. i like it that they talk and tell me abt themselves cos that means i dont have to reveal what's bothering me. i'm learning, learning to open up, to unravel myself. in fact, tis post is a good start. i do hope blogging will be an opportunity for me to discover myself and be more upfront with my thoughts and voice.

how can i miss a trip to the pet shop when i'm at eastgardens?! i know i've posted more than enough pics of them but i've to show u tis one i took today. its so cute neh. dont bluff u. u see for yourself. so cute right?????? see him sleep, i feel like sleeping too.

other half and i had laksa and fried hokkien mee for lunch. where, where? i can hear u asking. it is tis newly opened singapore restaurant jus downstairs our place, called straits kitchen. looking at the menu, u know the owner is truly singaporean. ngoh hiang, bak kut teh, char kway teow, hainanese chicken rice, kaya toast, ice milo dinosaur (i dont know tis but other half said its ice milo with alot of the milo powder). u can hear singlish within the restaurant, esp the customers. at an instant, it felt like being back in singapore. the laksa looked and smelled good but didnt quite live up to it. and the hokkien mee is nothing like back home. it tasted like any stir fry egg noodles, thats why we didnt bother taking a pic of it. though the two dishes were not up to our expectations, we'll go back again. to try the ngoh hiang, hay bee hiam sandwiches and ice milo dinosaur.

before i end today's entry, here are some facts i gathered from watching
oprah tis afternoon. i thought we chinese are the disgusting ones eating fermented bean curd, chicken feet, pigs' ears/ tongues but the icelanders sure beat us to it. they savor sour lamb's testicles & rotten shark!!!! *shudder* singapore was also featured.... for the numerous fines, ban of chewing gum, women's obsession with padded bras and sprouting slimming salons. i think so too. judging from 8days and i-weekly my ma brought from singapore, slimming salons really seem to be on the rise... marie france (featuring christy chung), expression, mary chia (ivy lee as spokesperson), royal body perfect (singapore idol's olinda cho), cenosis, slimfit (lynn poh) and i'm sure many more. one more fact before i sign off. there're 7 adverts on slimming salons in i-weekly compared to jus 1 advert in 8days (the 2 copies randomly choosen). now, what does that imply?

GSS vs GSS

so what happened last nite?
who slept first?

whenever i asked such questions the next morning i woke up, it showed how drunk sleepy and concussed i was the nite before. other half can witness. can anyone into neuroscience kindly explain what's with the severe forgetfulness?

apart from the forgetfulness, i had a good and restful nite. was still in dreamland at 11am till smell of sze chuan chicken and vietnamese pork chop flooded my nostrils. other half was having his early lunch before reporting for work. my body was still in a state of lethargy but my stomach was already awake and growling. so i got out of bed and dished myself a serving, as brunch.

buddy yeo, so did u like the cap? how appropriate isnt it? your nick neh. that pic didnt come easy. first, the store display didnt make much sense. that cap with many other hats and accessories were displayed behind the cash counter. how to reach, u tell me. initially, we took a pic of the entire cash counter but the work sucks cap looked too tiny on the pic so i asked the sales staff to bring it down for me. off to the mirror, i pretended to try it on and told other half to quickly take a pic. we were very consious holding a digital camera for fear of being mistaken for industrial spies. we ended up behaving more like shoplifters. having a camera phone would make life so much easier. i could have one if not for other half. i sound like i'm blaming him. :P due to the nature of his industry, cameras/ camera phones/ certain PDAs werent allowed on him at work. all thanks to the 911 attack. oh yeah, we always have the same phones. cant care less, i'm so going to get a camera phone for my up-and-coming one!!!

almost everyone on blogosphere whom their blogs i'm reading, is talking abt the GSS. what stood out from among GG5, mphosis, adidas was TBS (the body shop). imagine body butter going for 9.90?!?!! *rub eyes* really ah? can any kind soul please help me buy one dozen body butter (must be papaya)??? I ALSO WANT GSS (great sydney sale)!!!!!

i spent the afternoon re-connecting with some of my peers, through msn. WL & AL, congrats on your pregnancy. i think i appeared more excited than WL. how can i not? i've known her since secondary sch. friends for so long.

i've a thing for green these days. from food to clothes. pak choy, snow peas, chye sim, spring onions, green curry, kiwi, green blouses, green undies, jus to name a few. what to do, green is in.

coastal walk

fell asleep last nite without posting my completed blog entry. other half had to help me log out from blogger. when i'm really sleepy, dont expect me to do anything. i'm worse than a zombie. there was tis time, on the bus going to somewhere near wynyard train station (in the city, near the rocks), when i became really groggy and my mind switched off, i ended up with a hard fall. well, i didnt fall from getting off the bus but a few steps after i got off. i didnt see a kerb coming and i fell face down. thank God i didnt hurt my face but grazed my palms (from supporting my weight as i fell) and knees. imagine the push-up position. clearly, i sobered up right after the fall. other half was laughing as he helped me stick plasters on my wounds while i was quietly sobbing. havent felt such burning pain since so long ago. from then on, other half always warn me to be careful whenever i feel sleepy. at first i thought he loves rubbing in and reminding me of my misfortune. soon, many more incidences involving my sleepiness happened and so now, whenever i'm outside, esp alone, i'll make sure i'll be extra careful. where was i? yep, so it was a blissful sleep till 6ish tis morning when i woke up to go wash up (to make up for last nite :P). i was in the mood for a coastal walk (first one was so many years ago already) but since other half was still asleep, i collapsed on my bed and carry on sleeping. wonder whats the point of washing up. waste water. waste toothpaste. waste facial wash. oh yes, i also get to publish yday's blog entry. we didnt make it for the coastal walk till 2pm. it was the live verdict of schapelle corby (the marijuana-bali case) on national tv that got us stuck. the media finally got me hyped up (is she guilty or not? how many years imprisonment will she get?) abt her esp since she turned to christianity recently. i'm happy for her. its comforting for christians to know that God is there for us always and that He has a reason for putting us through every situation. there's tis inner peace from knowing God. for almost 2 hours, my room suddenly turned into tis indonesian sounding place. for the judge refused microphone on schapelle corby's interpreter, there was no english read out on the judge's summary of the case (until sometime later when the tv station summoned someone to the studio to do the translation which most of the time, the translator said the judge spoke too fast or the courtroom was too noisy). i feel the 20 years sentence is kinda unjust when there are several loopholes to the case. shall not discuss it here for it potentially involves a great deal of politics between two nations. for more info, do a google search. there're tons of websites/ forums dedicated to her, including a blog.

it was a long walk from home before we could even get started on the coastal walk.

kingsford --> randwick (near ritz cinema. then detour to the post office) --> coogee beach (starting point of our coastal walk)

tis post office may be "lok" but they kept up with recycling by selling used envelops.
Image hosted by Photobucket.com

the walk from kingsford to randwick is considered quite a distance. so u can imagine i was already feeling so tired when we finally get to coogee.

tis is me posing at the starting point, coogee beach, at 3:30pm.

a bend... bondi beach might be near.
Image hosted by Photobucket.com

yes, that must be bondi beach, at the end of the footpath (not quite. pic is deceiving. it involved at least another 5-10mins walk. during the walk, we spotted a cat that looked so much like my meow-meow. at first i thought it was him. same color scheme with white neck but tis cat has got no white paws. chey! besides, he wears a collar, if not, i might suggest bringing him home with us. i miss meow-meow dearly!!!)
Image hosted by Photobucket.com

came to tis lookout place (look like a scene taken from stargate) before the end of the footpath. we're actually on same ground as the 2 persons. to take a shot of the entire lookout, we climbed onto a mini hilltop.
Image hosted by Photobucket.com

a restuarant or pub as we approached the start of bondi beach. thats bondi bath next to it.
Image hosted by Photobucket.com

finally, our destination, bondi beach! our feet were so sore we skipped going down to the beach. besides, it was getting dark.
Image hosted by Photobucket.com

i dont know how many kilometres we covered. we were so tired after all the walking right?? but after the bus ride from bondi beach to bondi junction, we could still shop, window shop lah. :P we're professional "walkers" neh. i gave in to buying the chocolate cake i craved for since donkey days or weeks ago. one whole cake, gonna be jus for me. no one can touch it except me. see, tis is what i mean by fulfilling craving. if u dont, it'll come back and hit u harder.
