transamerica

out of the blue on a typical sunday, OH and i decided to hit the theatre. cathay cineleisure that is. okay, the truth is i dragged him to watch a movie with me. oh well, not that the movies are passe for us old farts. the thing is, we dont usually catch a movie on a sunday afternoon/ late morning cos we are always lethargic and sleepy post church service.

so, we caught transamerica starring felicity huffman,

  • better known as lynette in desperate housewives.
  • winner of best actress award at tis year's golden globes.
  • nominated for best actress for the 78th academy award (tomorrow, 6 mar 2006, 9am local time)
  • the 2nd & 3rd point - i knew only after buying the tix.

she is good boy. i know now why she won the golden globe award. and i hope she wins the best actress award tomorrow too. btw, considering i'm a medically trained person, i was quite squimish at some scenes in the show (yes, its rated R21). i confess, i havent seen the real fresh male genital in class except for sugically cut ones for patho-anatomy classes and of course the pictorial versions. jus be prepared lah...if it is your first time seeing it. okay, i dont know why i'm talking abt tis. lets jus talk abt something else. it occurred to me that there are pple who wont be sneered at when their mobiles or pagers go off at occasions (i'm specifically referring to conferences, seminars and movies too if the audiences knew their professions). and these pple are none other than doctors. u see, a few weeks ago, i attended tis symposium at one of the hospitals in the western part of singapore. during tis 1 hour session, countless of mobiles and also pagers went ringing/beeping away. the distinguished speaker from an overseas prestigious university cum medical institution didnt battle an eyelid. she was nonchalent abt it. so was the rest of the audience who were doctors and surgeons. well, it jus felt different for a while, for me, who is so used to pagers (who still carry one these days???) and mobiles switched off in an audience-based sitting. one of these days, when i'm in a symposium, please feel free to call me, so i can play doctor for a moment. *giggle*
