site selection
what's been keeping me busy lately?
site selection....that is, selecting potential specialists/ doctors to participate in a new trial. alot of ground work is to be done. reading up on the new study procotol and documents (getting these ready is no feat. several documents need translation into 2 to 3 languages - chinese, malay or tamil. spore is a multi-racial country and patients need to be able to sign on the consent form that is in the language they understand) pertaining to the new trial and then present them to the doctors. goal is to get them interested AND eventually participation in this new concept or trial. and of course comes the sensitive part of negotiating the payment terms for their services.
hope to get site selection done in a week or so before going into submission to the ethics committee. in every clinical trial, an ethics submission is mandatory. it protects the safety and rights of the patients. ethics committee of course do not comprise of all medical personnel. it has to be a committee consisting of laymen like lawyers, accountants, people independent of the medical industry, so to avoid bias.
getting a clinical trial started doesnt stop jus at ethics submission. will touch on that when i have the chance/ time.
okay, jus a short update here. gotto go now. have a nice weekend!!! (whatever that is left of it)
i've been calling my blog "the latch-key kid". will need to change that (need to find time and now with a new laptop - i call it "my lil one", that might help).
